Insider Review: Parasailing in St Thomas
Living in St. Thomas for nearly 5 years, I have seen plenty of parasailers floating off the shores of the beach and even flying off the coast of the island from my home. To be honest with you, I really was not sure what to expect, but I was a bit nervous. All I knew was there was a parachute hooked to a boat, and the people flew high, really high! It seemed like a theme park ride that was very much in real life, and looking back it kind of felt that way too! While I truly feel my words will come up short when describing our parasail experience, I hope the pictures will help you get a sense of it. Let’s go parasailing!
Our parasail excursion began at Sapphire Marina. If you are driving, the guard booth provides you with a parking pass. You can also take this excursion directly from the Havensight Cruise Dock on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays if you are coming to St. Thomas on a cruise ship. We took our first selfie of the day, nerves and all, and then boarded for our thrill ride!
It was a short ride on the powerboat from the dock to our flight spot between Sapphire and Lindquist Beach.
The island views were amazing, and the water was peaceful! The perfect weather and scenery really helped to calm my nerves before our parasail.

The crew, Matt and Hunter, got us into our gear and went over the easy instructions for our flight. They also offer a photo package for a small fee which includes a GoPro to use during your parasail and a ton of still shots taken from the boat. So worth it!
The guys explained the safety precautions (which they’ve never had to use!) while they readied our chute. She was a beauty!
We were strapped in and lifted right off the boat as our parachute took flight! It was so wild!

Within seconds we were flying over the Caribbean Sea, and seconds was all it took for my nerves to turn to awe!
Soaring hundreds of feet over the Caribbean is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done!
We were so high above the islands!

Our flight was 10 minutes of pure thrill!
As we glided over sparkling turquoise waters, our parasail felt like a dream!
We could see St. Thomas, St. John, and nearby British Virgin Islands as we floated over the water. Words simply do not do the views justice! It was really like we were flying over the islands!

Towards the end of the flight, the parachute lowered us for a fun and refreshing dip in the clear ocean.
Landing was almost as fun as the take off as we floated down right onto the boat.
After our flight, we made the short ride back to the dock, complete with scenic views as the adrenaline rush settled down. Start to finish, the excursion is about an hour long, but it felt much longer after experiencing something so unforgettable!

After our excursion, we went right over to Sapphire Beach to do some snorkeling and sun soaking. We even got to watch the next set of riders take flight! My husband and I could not stop talking about how perfect the day was!
I like to think I’m a pretty adventurous gal, and of all the places I’ve been and things I’ve tried, there is nothing I have done that I can compare to parasailing. It was like being at the top of the Eiffel Tower or Empire State Building if the only thing holding you up is a balloon, and you’re also over the Caribbean Sea. Take my word for it that it is simply an experience of it’s own, and the only way to get a sense of it is to just go for it! St Thomas Parasailing truly is the thrill ride of a lifetime!
